Haryana govt MoU with HDFC Bank, free insurance benefit for staff

He informed that the School Education Department has tied up with HDFC Bank for a unique and free insurance scheme, under which if the employee transfers his salary account to HDFC Bank, he will get several benefits including accident insurance up to Rs. 50 lakhs free of cost. He further stated that death insurance will also be included in this scheme. Kanwar Pal gave this information while addressing the Press Conference today at Haryana Niwas, Chandigarh. The exchange of MoUs took place between the School Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal and HDFC Group Head, Sh. Arvind Vohra. HDFC Bank has also tied up to set up smart classrooms in 103 schools of the state under the CSR programme, in which HDFC is going to have a huge contribution in the ambitious digital financial literacy programme, he added. He said that this is a voluntary scheme in which willing employees can open an account with HDFC Bank. Elaborating on the benefits, the spokesperson highlighted that in case any employee becomes partially completely disabled during an accident, then in such a situation he will get free insurance of Rs. 50 lakhs. School Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal said that free insurance cover of Rs. 50 lakhs can be helpful to the family in times of crisis. Giving more information it was informed that in 100 percent claim will be given in case of Permanent Total Disablement, Permanent and incurable insanity, Permanent Total Loss of two Limbs, Permanent Total Loss of Sight in both eyes, Permanent Total Loss of Sight of one eye and one Limb, Permanent Total Loss of Speech, Complete removal of the lower jaw, Permanent Total Loss of Mastication, Permanent loss of Central Nervous System. The Minister apprised that 75 percent compensation will be issued in case of Permanent Total Loss of Hearing in both ears, 50 percent in case of Permanent Total Loss of one Limb and Permanent Total Loss of Sight of one eye, 15 percent in case of Permanent Total Loss of Hearing in one ear, 25 percent in case of Permanent Total Loss of the lens in one eye, 40 percent in case Permanent Total Loss of use of four fingers and thumb of either hand, 20 percent in case of Permanent Total Loss of use of four fingers of either hand, 20 percent and 10 percent respectively in case of Permanent Total Loss of use of one thumb of either hand i) Both joints ii) One joint, Permanent Total Loss of one finger of either hand: Three joints-5 percent, Two joints-3.5 percent, One joint- 2 percent, Permanent Total Loss of use of toes: All-one foot 15 percent, Big-both joints- 5 percent, Big-one joint-2 percent, Other than Big-each toe-2 percent, Established non-union of fractured leg or kneecap- 10 percent, Shortening of leg by at least 5 cms- 7.5 percent, Ankylosis of the elbow, hip or knee-20 percent. He further stated that in case of death of the account holder, his minor child will get the education benefit of Rs. 4 lakhs. If the contract employee becomes a salary account holder in HDFC Bank, then he will get Rs. 15 lakhs, in any unforeseen circumstances mentioned above. He added that accidental death insurance will be available free of cost. Apart from this, Zero Balance account and unlimited ATM and other banking benefits are included in this scheme. In order to ensure that this insurance cover reaches the people without any hindrance, nodal officers, nodal branches will be nominated by the bank at the state level, district level, so that complaint redressal and quick payment can be simplified, he added.
