The BJP-led Haryana government's goal is to simplify the lives of poor people and empower them, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Wednesday as he distributed plot allotment certificates to beneficiaries under the state housing scheme.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to provide housing for every impoverished individual, the Haryana government had launched the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana to fulfill the housing aspirations of poor families in the state, Saini said during an event in Rohtak.
Under the state scheme, 15,250 beneficiaries were given land plot allotment certificates on Wednesday, according to an official statement.
state-level ceremony was held at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, where the Chief Minister attended as the chief guest, distributed the plot allotment letters to the beneficiaries on the spot. Simultaneously, programs were also held in four other locations, namely Yamunanagar, Palwal, Sirsa, and Mahendragarh.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Nayab Singh said that today is a very happy day as the dream of owning a home is coming true for poor people. The Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana is not just a scheme but a commendable initiative by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and our 'double-engine sarkar' to bring smiles to the faces of the poor and fulfill their dreams.
Our government's goal is to simplify the lives of the poor and empower them so they can advance their families and provide good education to their children, he said.
The Chief Minister said that the previous government showed plots to the poor but neither gave them plots nor any papers. Those people kept running from pillar to post. However, our government understood their plight and decided to provide them with plots. Therefore, a program was organized in Sonipat recently where poor people were given possession certificates for 100 square yards plots, said Sh. Nayab Singh.
He said that the government also announced that if land is not available in the villages, an amount of Rs. 1 lakh will be transferred to the accounts of the remaining people to purchase plots.
Furthermore, officers have been directed to develop a portal so that any eligible beneficiary who has been left out or any other citizen wanting to avail of this scheme can apply, said the Chief Minister.
He informed that just a few days ago, over one lakh eligible beneficiaries of the labor department were provided benefits worth Rs. 80 crores under various schemes.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has distributed HAPPY cards to families with an income of less than Rs. 1 lakh annually under the Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY).
There are about 23 lakh such families in the state, with around 84 lakh members, who are benefiting from 1000 kilometers of free bus travel within a year under this scheme.
Sh. Nayab Singh said that the central government has launched the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under this scheme, families with an annual income of less than Rs. 1.80 lakh can benefit. The cost of installing solar panels is Rs 1.10 lakh, of which Rs. 60,000 will be provided by the central government and Rs. 50,000 by the Haryana government.
Availing this scheme will reduce the electricity bill to zero, and the government will buy the excess electricity generated, providing an additional income.
