DW BUREAU / Chandigarh Moments after flagging off the Daily World Chandigarh Cyclotron 2021 at the Sukhna Lake here, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator, Shri V P Singh Badnore took to his bicycle and started riding it towards the Punjab Raj Bhawan. He was accompanied by Principal Chief Secretary to the CM, Punjab, Shri Suresh Kumar, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd chairman and ACS (Excise and Taxation) Shri A Venu Prasad, Punjab NRI Commission member Shri MP Singh and Chandigarh Municipal Commissioner Shri K K Yadav who also cycled from the Marathon venue towards the Raj Bhawan. Several senior officers accompanying the Governor at the flag off ceremony also hastened to join him in this gesture of participation in the Daily World Chandigarh Cyclothon event held at the Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh Sunday morning. Just as the illustrious dignitaries gathered in large numbers at the flag off ceremony were expecting the customary tea party after the ceremonial Flag off ceremony, the Governor caught many by total surprise as he decided to participate in the Cyclothon. He set off at a pace which many senior officers accompanying him found hard pressed to keep up with. The decision of the Governor demonstrated his deep-rooted passion for sports and that was a befitting finale to the 1st Edition of the Daily World Chandigarh Cyclothon 2021 Event in which a large number of cyclists from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana participated. Earlier, appreciating the efforts made by the Daily World Newspaper in association with the UT administration and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh in organising the event, the Governor said that such events played a great role in motivating the citizenry to improve their health and lifestyle through healthier lifestyle options.
