IGU Tourney Kicks Off at Forest Hill; Rudra Sharma Shines

The 5th edition of the IGU North Zone Sub-Junior and Junior Feeder Tour got underway at Forest Hill Golf & Country Club, drawing over 100 young golfers from across the country. Set against the challenging course known for its undulating fairways and water hazards, the tournament is testing the skill and temperament of budding players. B.S. Gill, President of the club, said the event offers a strong platform to identify and nurture emerging talent.
On Day 1, several impressive performances were recorded across categories. In Category A (15–17 years) boys, Samriddh Chand Thakur led with a score of 68, followed by Aryaman Magotra (73) and Anmol Singh (74). In the girls’ combined Category A & B, Anushka Singh Malik topped with 74.
In Category B (13–14 years) boys, Devvrat Singh Rajawat carded 68 to lead, while in Category C (11–12 years), Pratham Vir Singh topped with 63. Among girls in this segment, Aarushi Sharma led with 68.
The highlight came in Category D (9–10 years) boys, where Rudra Sharma delivered an outstanding 6-under-par 60 to take the top spot. Maahir Singh (61) and Taanush Kumar (62) followed closely. In the girls’ section, Maansvi Rathor topped with 64.
In the younger categories, Shabd Aggarwal and Viraj Krishan Chaudhri shared the lead in Category E boys, while Saveer Singh Pruthi topped Category F boys. Saira Uppal led the girls’ Category F.
The two-day tournament concludes today, with the final round expected to witness keen competition across all categories.
