Webinar on immunity boosting at SGGSWU

The Department of Physiotherapy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organized a special webinar on "Boost up Your Immunity in Covid19 Pandemic".
The webinar was the part of the series of webinars dedicated to 400th Parkash Purab of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib. Dr Tejbir Singh, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, welcomed the guest speaker and the students.
Dr Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University, appreciated the efforts of the department for organizing such an informative lecture which was the need of the hour. Dr Singh shared his views on the importance of strong immunity in the times of Covid19 pandemic. Dr SS Billing, Dean of Academic Affairs of the University, was the guest of honour at the event.
On this occasion, Sunita Malhotra RD, Chief Dietician and Head Department of Dietetics, PGIMER, Chandigarh, was the guest speaker.
Sunita Malhotra underlined the role of diet and nutrition in boosting the immunity to protect and to fight against Covid19. She said that the prevailing diet habits of the society especially in the young and the children had totally gone off the track with more processed, fried, high calories and fast food. These types of dieting habits increased the risk of diseases especially related to immunity.
She emphasized on the role of good eating habits especially fruits, millet, vegetables and PUFA which is essential to boost the body's immunity. Dr Supreet Bindra, Assistant Professor, was the coordinator of the webinar.
At the end of the event, Dr Pankajpreet Singh, In-charge, Department of Physiotherapy, thanked the guest speaker, the students and the audience for joining this event.
