DW BUREAU / FATEHGARH SAHIB The Department of Punjabi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organized a webinar on 'Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji- 'Personality and Vairaag'. The event was dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. Prit Pal Singh in his presidential address said that all governmental and non-governmental organizations all over the world are celebrating the 400th Prakash Purab of the Guru as Human Rights Day. He added that on this occasion the world is talking about the significance of freedom for everyone with reference to the Guru. Dr. Sikandar Singh, In-charge, Punjabi Department in his welcome address spoke about the annual activities dedicated to Prakash Purab being organized by the university. He said that the university has drawn up 40 different events dedicated to the 400th Prakash Purab among which today's webinar is an important event. On this occasion, Prof. Sevak Singh, Sikh thinker, Sri Anandpur Sahib was the guest speaker and Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs of the University, was the special guest. The webinar was attended by the heads of different departments of the university, teachers and students as well as representatives from more than12 educational institutions. Dr. Sevak Singh shared his views on the philosophical concepts of Raga and Vairaag with references to Gurbani and contemporary life. He said that the idea of liberation from fear given to the world by Guru Tegh Bahadur paved the path for freedom and salvation of humanity. At the end of the event, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing thanked the guest speaker, the students and the audience for joining this event. (editor@dailyworld.in)
