UT reports 38 new cases of COVID-19, one death

Chandigarh reported 38 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday , taking the tally of confirmed positive cases to 21,463. One more death due to COVID-19 has also been reported in the city which took the death toll due to COVID-19 to 350. At present, there are 205 active cases in the city.
The new cases have also been reported from Sectors 8, 9, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25 and Ram Darbar. A total of 18 patients have been discharged taking the tally of cured patients to 20,908 in the city.
Panchkula reported 10 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday . The new cases took the tally to 10,751. At present, there are 108 active cases in the district.
The new cases have also been reported from Kalka and Sector 15.
A total of10,495 patients have been discharged in the district after they successfully recovered from the infection.
Mohali reported 49 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The new cases have taken the tally of confirmed positive cases to 19,988 with 410 active cases reported. Onemore patient succumbed to the infection in the district.
The new cases have also been reported from Dhakoli and Kurali.
A total of 23 patients have been discharged taking the tally of recovered patients to 19,195in the district. Till date, 383deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported in the district.
India's COVID-19 tally surpassed 1.10 crore on Monday with 14,199 new infections while the number of active cases increased for the fifth consecutive day and went past 1.5 lakh after a gap of 17 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The total number of coronavirus cases in the country stands at 1,10,05,850. The death toll increased to 1,56,385 with 83 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. India added 4,421 active COVID-19 cases on Monday, the biggest jump since November 26. With this, the number of active cases increased to 1,50,055, which constitutes 1.36 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated. Active cases were last recorded above the 1.5-lakh mark, at 1,51,460, on February 5.
According to the health ministry, the surge in active cases is due to a spike in the number of daily infections in Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.
