UT Police busts Gang of Motor Vehicle(E-Rickshaw) Lifters

In a major breakthrough, a team of Chandigarh Police led by Inspector Om Parkash, SHO, PS-Maloya was formed under the close supervision of SDPO/South Davinder Sharma, who has busted a Gang of Motor Vehicle (E-Rickshaw) lifter.
Two persons have been arrested and 12 cases of vehicle thefts have been solved with the arrest of the accused. The areas affected by the Gang are PS-17, PS-26, PS-19, PS-Sarangpur, PS-Manmajra, PS-IT Park, PS-Mauli Jagran and PS-Maloya. The thieves targeted the E-Rickshaws in midnight hours. 14 stolen vehicles (E-Rickshaw) and a stolen battery of one E-Rickshaw have been recovered from them. As per the police, Accused Deep Singh of Jalalabad (Bihar) presently residing in Vill- Lalru, District Mohali, age-30 years has studied up to 3rd standard and he is the Gang leader.
He was the person who made Reece in the targeted area. The Gang committed the Crime during the midnight hours. He has been doing theft activities for the last two years. Accused Jinder of Jalandhar (PB), aged twenty four years has studied up to 10+2 and he is also a member of Gang. After sustained efforts, the police party finally succeeded in arresting accused Deep Singh Jinder.
During the investigation, it came to light that earlier, accused Deep Singh was confined in Model Jail, Ambala, Haryana in a Auto theft case where he met another accused namely Dheeraj and became good friends. Later on, another accused namely Sonu also met them and became their friend. After being released from Model Jail, Ambala, all of them formed their Gang and opened a shop selling/purchasing/repairing old E-Rickshaw in Shop number 25, Gurnam E-Rickshaw, Jeevan Nagar, Jamalpur, Ludhiana, Punjab.
Accused Jinder was looking after the shop, and accused Deep Singh along with Dheeraj and Sonu used to commit the crime of stealing E-Rickshaw in the area of Chandigarh, said the police. They carried the stolen E-Rickshaws by driving themselves and kept the same in a Godown in Ludhiana.
During the investigation/interrogation, twelve cases have been worked out against the accused. The accused is on police remand and other recoveries are likely to be effected, the police informed.
