DW BUREAU / Chandigarh Following an expose by the Daily World on the alleged conversation between Bhola Drug case accused and a proclaimed offender, Sarabjit Singh, Punjab police Inspector Satwant Singh and DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyaya, the Chandigarh police have registered an UAPA case and the same has been forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for consideration to hand it over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), sources said. In a reply filed before a Chandigarh court opposing the bail application filed by Inspector Satwant Singh (now suspended) in a case involving alleged faking of DGP Chattopadhyaya's signature when he was posted as the State Police Chief, the UT police informed the court that an FIR on charges of unlawful activity has also been registered against the said Inspector and others and the matter is "very sensitive" in nature. On January 24 and January 26, Daily World had highlighted the purported conversation between the DGP and the PO Sarabjit Singh on posting and transfer of Punjab police officers and sensitive security matters one week before the security breach involving the cavalcade of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Punjab visit on January 5.
