As a gesture of goodwill and undertaking an innovative Outreach Program, 3rd edition of Sauhard was organized by SJVN at Shimla. Chairman and Managing Director SJVN, Nand Lal Sharma inaugurated the event by giving away the mementoes & items voluntarily donated by SJVN employees to the low-income outsourced workers deployed by various contractors in SJVN.
The out-of-the-box initiative was initiated by SJVN Chairman Sharma as an innovative concept - My Social Responsibility (MSR)- in the year 2019 with an objective of reaching out to the marginalized section of the society. Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said, "My Social Responsibility is our philanthropic endeavor to contribute in striking a balance between economic growth and the welfare of the vulnerable section of the society. It is our personal social responsibility to make efforts to provide amenities to people who are less privileged."
He said continuing the legacy, more than 372 mementoes were voluntarily donated by 204 SJVN employees. These mementoes were clubbed together and then distributed among 230 workers deployed by various contractors at Corporate Headquarters, Shimla. Director (Personnel), Geeta Kapur, Director (Civil), SP Bansal Director (Finance) AK Singh and Director (Electrical), Sushil Sharma were also present along with senior officials of SJVN.
Under MSR, first edition-Sauhard 1.0 was organised in December 2019. In this, Sharma had donated more than 140 mementoes and gifts received by him on various occasions and functions by outside agencies, organizations and groups. During the event, Sharma had urged the employees to make MSR part of their lives and voluntarily contribute to this cause. This selfless gesture of his acted as an inspiration and second edition-Sauhard 2.0 was organized in July 2020. More than 200 mementoes were voluntarily donated by the employees and these were further distributed among the needy people. Similarly, other Projects and Units of SJVN also adopted MSR and organized Sauhard at different Projects for helping the vulnerable people of nearby vicinity.
The SJVN, which started with single project operation in one state, is now implementing Power Projects Pan-India and has also made an international foray by implementing projects in the neighboring countries of Nepal and Bhutan. The current installed capacity of SJVN is 2016.51 MW. The company has a total portfolio of more than 16900 MW in Hydro, Thermal, Solar and Wind Power Generation.
