The Samrala police has started campaign against the drug peddlers. Waryam Singh Khehra DSP Samrala while talking to media men today said that police has arrested two persons Anu Kumar alias Akku and Harjit Singh of Moga along with the 1.5 kg opium and a car. A case under NDPS have been registered against the them. While narrating the sequence of the incident Waryam Singh Khehra DSP and Bhinder Singh Khangura SHO said that police party was checking the doubtful elements and a naka was set up at police post Hedon. Police party signalled to stop a car coming from Khamano side. When the police party searched the car and frisked both the occupants. One and half kg opium was recovered from their possession. Khehra said when the persons nominated in the case were inquired they confessed that they were smuggling this opium on the instance of Rickey who is now in Kapurthala Jail. They admitted that Anu Kumar Akku till now has sold about twenty kg opium on different places. They said now too this consignment brought from Kharar but was caught by police. Police officer said after registering the case both have been produced in the court and police remand has been taken.
