On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal today attended the state-level programme organized at Chaudhary Devi Lal Stadium, Gohana as the Chief Guest.
During the function, the Chief Minister announced that reservations in hostel accommodations will be given to the schools and college students belonging to the SC community and disadvantaged groups.
The government will soon implement a 'zero dropout policy', so that no child shall be deprived of education, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
He further announced that the two new hostels to be constructed in the state will be named after Maharshi Valmiki. The Chief Minister also announced to give Rs. 25 lakh for the construction work of the Trikal Samrasata Bhawan to be built in the Maharishi Valmiki Ashram. He directed the Deputy Commissioner to immediately release the said amount so that the construction work can be completed at the earliest.
Meanwhile, in view of the general elections of three tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions in the State, because of the enforcement of the model code of conduct, these announcements will be applicable for the areas outside the code of conduct.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister said propagating the thoughts and teachings of saints and great men in society is the need of the hour. It should be ensured that each one of us follows the teachings of great men, he added.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that saints and great men do not belong to any particular caste or society, rather their thoughts and teachings always remain a source of great inspiration for the entire society. Maharishi Valmiki ji was the knower of Vedas. His teachings given through Ramayana are relevant even today, added the Chief Minister.
"Great men always believed in social harmony, peace and brotherhood in society. The state government has also worked in this direction. The government is trying to bring the person or society into the mainstream which has been left behind.
The benefit is being given to the last person through Antyodaya Utthan Yojana. In Haryana, now people do not have to make rounds of the government offices to take benefits of the schemes, people are getting the benefits of most of the schemes at their doorsteps," said Sh. Manohar Lal.
