Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today conferred degrees to the students of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) during the first convocation ceremony held.
Addressing the students, the Chief Minister congratulated students for getting degrees from premier institute. He said that the Punjab Government was committed to stop brain drain from Punjab by creating new opportunities so that the youth of Punjab should not go to foreign shores in pursuit of their dreams. He added that albeit it would be the other way round, when people from foreign countries shall flock Punjab to work here.
Chief Minister said that this was the era of technical education so the current education needs to be in sync with the employment opportunities available. Seeking some time to create an industry friendly environment in the state to provide employment in Punjab itself, he appealed to youngsters to serve their own motherland.
Bhagwant Mann also appealed to the parents to give freedom to their children, especially to the girls, to excel in the field of their choices. He said parents should stop spoon feeding their children and should rather strengthen their skills by providing them an open environment to prove themselves.
Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit delivering the convocation address said that technologists are problem solvers who search for quicker, better and less expensive ways to meet tough challenges and varieties like MRSPTU gear up the technologists to fulfill these challenges.
He called upon young technologists, that instead of looking for job opportunities, they should be job creators adding that through start-ups and entrepreneurships they can create enterprises, which will create wealth for the nation, society and people. He called upon the MRSPTU to take a lead in creating an eco-system for entrepreneurship and innovation amongst its constituent colleges and hoped that setting up of innovation and incubation centres in on its radar.
Earlier the Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit conferred honorary doctorate degrees to the three eminent personalities for their contribution in the various fields which included Social Worker Dr. SPS Oberoi, Industrialist Rajinder Gupta and Ex. Chairman ISRO Dr. Radha Krishanan (Degree received by Director IIT Ropar Dr. Rajiv Ahuja).
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann conferred degrees and gold medals to the Post Graduate students of the University whereas Mr Vikas Garg Chairman Board of Studies of the University gave degrees to graduates.
Governor Punjab Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also inaugurated 75 online certificate courses in emerging technologies started by the MRSPTU. Prominent among other present on the occasion included MLAs Jagroop Singh Gill, Baljinder Kaur, Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Gurpreet Singh Banawali, Amit Rattan, Master Jagsir Singh and Balkar Sidhu, Vice Chancellor MRSPTU Buta Singh Sidhu, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Vijay Singla, Prof Raghvendran P. Tiwari Vice Chancellor Central University of Punjab and others.
BANWRILAL PUROHIT GREETS PEOPLE ON RAM NAUMI
CHANDIGARH The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shri Banwarilal Puorhit extended warm greetings to the people of Punjab and Chandigarh on the auspicious occasion of 'Ram Naumi', the birthday of Lord Rama.In a message, Shri Purohit said that Ram Naumi, a festival of great social and religious merit reminds us of the high ideals of morality, sacrifice and righteousness propagated by Maryada Purushottam Ram. 278 complaints disposed off
Chandigarh Know your case and Public Grievances Redressal Campaigns were organized at all police stations/units and Traffic Lines Sector-29, Chandigarh to check the status of their cases, complaints and traffic challans on Saturday.
During the campaign, total 402 persons visited the Police Stations and units and Traffic Lines, including 372 persons visited under Public Grievances camp and 30 persons visited under Know your case Scheme. Total 278 complaints were disposed off during Public Grievances Redressal Camp. / DW bureau /
