Provide a Child Friendly Police Station for children in UT: Satya Pal Jain

The Social Welfare Committee, constituted by the Administrator U.T. Chandigarh under the Chairmanship of Sh. Satya Pal Jain, has recommended to the administration to have a separate "child friendly police station" for children alone, so that the children are kept away from other criminals, with a view to save their future.
The meeting of the committee was held yesterday in the U.T. Guest House which was presided over by Satya Pal Jain. Giving this information Jain said that the committee discussed various issues concerning the children also in this meeting.
Jain said that the committee was informed by Chandigarh Police that during years 2018, 2019 and 2020, total 176, 159 and 110 children went missing out of them 20, 13 and 13 children respectively have not been recovered as yet. The Committee decided that it will study in detail the steps being taken to recover these children as well as the action being taken against the culprits who kidnapped them, and will submit its report for further action to the Administration, shortly.
The Committee also recommended that a campaign to save children from bagging, forcibly working in factories etc. etc. be intensified and also suitable steps be taken for their rehabilitation and appropriate jobs etc.
The Committee was informed that the Chandigarh Administration has notified its scheme for the rehabilitation of those children, who lost their parents because of corona. The Committee decided to publicise this scheme, identify affected children and get them suitable help as per the scheme.
The Committee reiterated its early decision of increasing the widow, disability and old age pension from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000 per month in Chandigarh and urged the Administration to implement it at the earliest. It also recommended that the Majdoor Bhawan be constructed in Chandigarh, so that the poor section of society like labourers etc. can use it, at very nominal rates, for their social functions.
Among others Director Dr. Navjot Kaur, Dr. Satender Sachdeva, Smt. Anamika Walis, Smt. Rama Matharu, Smt. Preeti Goyal, Smt. Renu Rishi Gautam, Smt. Poonam Jamwal, Sh. Satinder Singh, Smt. Bishman Ahula and Dr. Ramneek also attended the meeting.
