The march was led by the YAD president Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer. Hundreds of representative Youth Akali workers battled with the Chandigarh police that was trying to thwart their emergence from the party s Sector 28 headquarters around 11:00 this morning. The workers jostled their way past the heavy contingents of police and managed to break their way on to the Madhya Marg using service lanes and slip roads. They were stopped again with reinforcements from Chandigarh police. Following this, the Akali workers sat in dharna near a petrol pump, insisting they either be allowed to reach the CM residence or the state head office of the Congress party to present their memorandum against the massive failure of the AAP-Congress alliance government in Punjab. The workers said that they also wanted to offer their congratulations and wishes to the leaders of the AAPINCA government, Bhagwant Mann, Partap Singh Bajwa and Raja Warring for coming together to command an unprecedented majority of 110 members in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. The agitators also wanted to congratulate Mr Bajwa and Mr Warring as the Deputy Chief Minister s-designate in their alliance government. But we also wanted to offer our sympathies to Mr Bajwa who deserved a better slot in his own alliance govt in view of his seniority and had to stomach humiliation by having to work under his erstwhile bete noir Bhagwant Mann., said the YAD Chief.
