PM Gati Shakti boost to metro HUDA City Centre, Cyber City metro project

This project is already approved by PIB and is now at the advanced stage of final approval from the Government of India. This was disclosed by the Chief Secretary cum Chairman HMRTC, Sanjeev Kaushal while reviewing the performance of Mass Rapid Transport Gurugram and progress of ongoing Metro projects in Haryana. Three projects announced by the Chief Minister Manohar Lal, who is also holding a portfolio of Finance Minister in his budget speech of this year, namely the Metro link from Rezangla chowk to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi via Dwarka Sector-21 (8.4 KM), Metro link from Southern Peripheral Road to Panchgaon via Global City and Manesar (35 KM), Extension of the Bahadurgarh Metro upto Asaudha (8.2 KM) to connect with the Haryana Orbital Rail Network and Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway are at various stages to implementation, said the Chief Secretary. He said that the other project from Rezangla chowk to Dwarka, Sector-21 to connect IGI Airport has also been sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India (MoHUA) for approval, which is also under active consideration of MoHUA. He said that the Metro connectivity between Faridabad and Gurugram will also be considered on double-decker via-duct in arrangement with NHAI. He said that NCT-Delhi Government has been requested to provide their financial commitments for giving a clearance of DPR from Sarai Kale Khan (SKK)-Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror (SNB) and Sarai Kale Khan (SKK)-Panipat RRTS corridors. Soon a meeting will be held in this regard. These projects will provide an efficient and environment-friendly transport system to the daily commuters as well as the general public. It will also give impetus to the commercial development in Gurugram and other areas of State of Haryana. He said that on the revenue front, Gurugram Metro has shown very significant growth in the last 11 months of this financial year 2022-23 vis- -vis last year. It has earned the total revenue of Rs.40.3 crores in 2022-23 upto February against 8.1crores of the same period of last year showing improvement by 403 . The revenue has been increased due to an increase in ridership as well as other commercial and marketing activities like E-auctioning of advertisement spaces, rentals etc. Daily ridership has also gone upto 43500 passengers per day in this financial year from the level of 8500 passengers per day last year, he added. The Chairperson has appreciated the progress of projects, revenue performance of the last eleven months of HMRTC. He suggested conducting a study on a concessional fare in a non-peak period, to increase ridership by providing last-mile connectivity to the daily commuters and to garner more non-fare revenue by developing parking lots, auctioning or tendering of advertisements, development of rental spaces on PPP model. In the meeting Chief Executive Officer, Gurugram and Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authorities, Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Local Bodies, Arun Gupta, MD, HSIIDC.
