World Environment Day was celebrated at Chhatbir zoo and an awareness campaign of mass mobilization was concluded with plantation drive at Chhatbir zoo in which Field Director Neeraj Kumar with all the zoo officials and with visitors planted trees inside zoo campus.

Today the whole world celebrated the world environment day. Because this day is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and held annually since 1973, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. It is celebrated by millions of people across the world, he said.

Indian culture and living traditions are inherently sustainable. The importance of conserving our precious natural resources and living in harmony with nature are emphasised in our ancient scriptures. The need of the hour is to tap into that ancient wisdom and spread the message to as many people as possible. Todays; Zoo Awareness campaign seeks to channel the efforts of individuals and communities into a global mass movement of positive behavioural change.

Moefcc (Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Changes, Government of India) and Central Zoo Authority, Government of India also directed to all zoos of the Nation to celebrate the same with all stakeholders and spread the message for the sake of environment. World Environment Day 2024 with a focus on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience. Land restoration is a key pillar of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), a rallying call for the protection and revival of ecosystems all around the world, which is critical to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
