Panel to increase efficiency of logistics

Haryana Government has constituted the State Logistics Coordination Committee to promote excellence and efficiency in the logistics sector in the State and to bring all the stakeholders related to logistics on a single platform. While giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson of the Industries and Commerce Department said that the Chief Secretary would be the Chairman of this State Logistics Coordination Committee.
Similarly, Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner of Revenue Department, The Administrative Secretaries of Power Department, Public Works (Building and Roads) and Architecture Department, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Environment and Climate Change Department, Finance and Planning Department, Civil Aviation Department, Skill Development and Industrial Training Department, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Department, The Administrative Secretaries of Town and Country Planning and Urban Estates Department, Urban Local Bodies Department, Industries and Commerce Department and Transport Department will be the members of this committee. The Chairman of Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAK), Managing Director of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Director General/Director of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and officers nominated by the Central Government will also be members of this committee, while the Department of Industries and Commerce will be members of this committee. Director General/Director and Secretary will act as Member Secretary of this Committee. In addition, the committee may also invite any other member as a special minister, if required. The committee will meet once in a month.
The spokesperson said that the State Logistics Coordination Committee would act as the State Focal Point for logistics related matters in the State and would lay emphasis on the development of the Logistics Industry. The committee will prepare a master plan for state and city logistics as per the National Logistics Policy. In addition, the committee will consider measures to improve logistics efficiency with emphasis on city logistics, simplification of approvals for warehouses, facilitating warehouse development, easing the pressure of truck movement and bridging the shortage of truck drivers. He said that the committee would review, coordinate and oversee the activities of all the departments dealing in logistics related matters. It will also take steps to ensure an integrated hassle free, efficient, reliable, sustainable and low cost logistics system in the State. In addition, the committee will identify the shortcomings of this sector and advise the government on making policies, programmes and legislations etc.
