Ownership of houses given to 30,000 beneficiaries: CS Kaushal

category Regional, chandigarh, , tags Regional, chandigarh, , DW BUREAU Chandigarh Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said that ownership of houses each about 30 square meters carpet area (36.22 Gaj approximately) has been given to 30,000 beneficiaries in the state under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY-U). The Chief Secretary, Mr. Kaushal disclosed this while presiding over the 16th meeting of State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee to review the progress of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY-U) here today. He said that out of the target of 67,649 beneficiaries set by the central government under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) component, data of 64,829 beneficiaries has been attached in Housing for All (Urban) Management Information System (MIS). Geo tagging of 64,805 houses has been done to track progress of construction of houses while 4,4427 houses have been approved by the supervisors. The Chief Secretary further said that the modification in information regarding names of applicants who have not submitted ownership proof or left the town or not traceable or already own a pucca house or change in gender or caste or duplicity in Adhaar etc has been received from 41 Urban Local Bodies in 14 districts. He directed the officers to expedite the modification process and submit a fortnight progress report in this regard. Kaushal said that the state government is providing financial assistance of up to Rs. 1.00 lakh, in addition to the existing Central assistance of Rs. 1.50 lakh, to all eligible beneficiaries to support the construction of houses. To further facilitate the process, a one-time exemption has been granted for depositing development charges, building plan scrutiny fees, and offline approval of building plans maps for beneficiaries under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) and Credit Link Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) in the state. This exemption aims to reduce the financial burden and streamline the approval process for these beneficiaries. The Chief Secretary said that under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) vertical, it has been decided that the first installment will be released immediately after the issuance of the Letter of Intent (LOI). Similarly, the second installment will be provided as soon as the construction progresses up to the lintel level but before the roof of the house is laid. This streamlined approach ensures that beneficiaries receive timely financial support at key stages of the construction process. Furthermore, in a positive move, BLC applicants who have previously benefited from the housing scheme but currently have dilapidated houses are also eligible for the construction facility.
