Over 150 runners, representing different running groups of the Tri-city, participate in a 21 km promo run on Sunday

In a run-up to Chandigarh's biggest run ? Daily World Marathon, scheduled for November 6, 2022 ? over 150 runners, representing different running groups of the Tri-city, came together for a promo run held in Chandigarh on Sunday.
The tri-city's top names in the running community participated in a 21km promo run, starting from the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1 to IT Park and back.
The promo run was flagged off by Chandigarh's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kuldeep Singh Chahal.
Daily World Newspaper in association with the UT Administration is organising the fourth edition of the Daily World Marathon 2022. It carries a total cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. The Daily World marathon is considered as the biggest running event of the region ? both on cash prize and participation fronts.
The country's elite athletes, the runners from foreign countries along with thousands of running enthusiasts from all walks of life are expected to participate in the fourth edition of the Daily World Run.
Apart from the marathon (42.195 km), there will be a half marathon and 10km timed run, which will be under the competitive categories and have cash prizes for open and different age categories. In addition to the timed run, there will also be a 5km fun run category.
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit will be the chief guest for the edition of the run.
Earlier the fourth edition of the Daily World Marathon was scheduled for March 2022, but because of the COVID pandemic it got postponed and now it will take place on November 6, 2022, starting from Chandigarh's iconic Capitol Complex.
The fourth edition of the run is being organized to celebrate 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', Fit India movement and women empowerment. Internationally acclaimed and India's first woman dhol player Jahan Geet Singh, who is challenging patriarchy every time she beats the dhol ? which is earlier considered as a musical instrument meant for men, is the brand ambassador of the run.
