Mayor visits legacy waste bio-mining project

He was accompanied by Chief Engineer Sh. N.P. Sharma and other concerned engineers of the project. He asked the engineers to speed up the work so that it may be completed by the end of the year. He also asked the concerned engineers for alternate arrangements of processing of the legacy waste dumped therein during the raining season and directed them to complete the arrangements by coming summer. The Mayor said that the work of bio-mining measuring 8 acres of land fill site having 13.30 lacs cum of legacy waste dumped therein has been started on 24th November, 2022 with a time period to be completed within 43 months from the date of start by M s Akanksha Enterprises, a Karnal-based firm at project cost of Rs. 67.95 crores. However, he was confident that the work would be finished by end of this year as in just 2 months, out of 8 lac cu mts of legacy waste, 1.20 lacs cum legacy waste has already been processed. The Mayor further said that the project will give a big relief to the residents from the foul smell and leachate oozing out of the garbage dump, which is been a major cause of the spread of various diseases, flies and dust nuisance. He said that the task of Swachh Bharat Mission could not be achieved until the Municipal Corporation go for the scientific way. (editor dailyworld.in)
