Make Abdul Kalam your role model, Purohit counsels students

Governor of Punjab Banwarilal Purohit as the chief guest today visited Chitkara University and observed the enormous and magnificent scroll painting prepared by 250 artists which showcased the life sketch and contribution of unsung heroes of various States. The workshop- Kala Kumbh was jointly organised by Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Defence and NGMA ( National Gallery of Modern Art) New Delhi .
Purohit had a word with all artists and was inquisitive about the art work which is of 450 metres length and 3 metres in height and has stories of freedom fighters of various States including Ladakh, Kashmir , Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana , Karnatka , Kerla, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab , Delhi , Gujarat and Rajasthan. The art ,culture, literature , lifestyle and popular places of these States are also depicted through paintings which will be displayed at Raj Path on January 26 and it will be inaugurated by the PM Narendra Modi.
Purohit said that the artists under the able guidance of their mentors have done great job and documented about those freedom fighters and martyrs who are not much known but their contribution in freedom struggle was immense .
He said that we are yet to make our country what our freedom fighters had dreamt of. We must make our country 'Vishwa-Guru' in every aspect. Such huge painting will have long lasting impact on its spectators and all the citizen will get to know about our nation's patriots in unique
artistic way .
While addressing the audience on concluding day of 9 day workshop - Kala Kumbh he appreciated and congratulated all the organisers for their initiative and said that this is an example of unity in diversity of India where many forms of art are prevailing for more than thousands of years and the ' Guru Shishy Parampara ' has a great style of learning and passing on knowledge to the next generation.
Purohit also appreciated NCC cadets who were part of this scroll painting workshop and said that love and pride for nation is formost important and we must know the history of our country and how we achieved the Independence after a long battle with Britishers. He advised the students to make former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam as their role model.
On this occasion Chancellor of Chitkara University Dr Ashok Chitkara, Pro Chancellor Dr Madhu Chitkara were also present .
Director General of NGMA Adwait Garanayak presented the concept and execution of Kala Kumbh and said that the phenomenal work done by 250 artists who worked day and night is really remarkable and by attending this workshop for 9 days they have come closer to each other and had great learning experience .
They had exchanged many ideas and displayed their own style of painting while sticking to the core idea of showing the strength of freedom fighters of various regions in a canvas which is one of its kind because of its length and height .
