Lok Sabha Member Preneet Kaur presiding over an online meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, in Patiala, on Monday

Former Union Minister Preneet Kaur, Member Parliament from Patiala, today, directed the district officials to ensure that the benefits of the public welfare schemes must reach the lowest level and said that the information of schemes being run by the government should be made available to the people of the villages as well as concerned departments ensure that the benefits of ongoing welfare schemes reach every eligible beneficiary.
She was presiding over an online meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) held here, today. During the online meeting, Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, MLA Rajpura Hardial Singh Kamboj and MLA Ghanour Madan Lal Jalalpur were also present.
Preneet Kaur also directed the officers to complete the target of providing 100 days guaranteed employment to the village MGNREGA workers with the funds released for the year 2020-21 under the scheme. Meanwhile, ADC (D) Dr. Preeti Yadav said that so far, 38306 MGNREGA workers have been provided employment and an amount of Rs. 8.98 crore has been released as their wages.
The MP was also informed about the other benefits given to the eligible beneficiaries, including Rs 1159.33 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), to 1145 beneficiaries, 1624 toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) beneficiaries. During the meeting, Preneet Kaur was also apprised of the progress of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Sugammia Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, ICDS, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid Day Meal and other centrally sponsored schemes were also reviewed
During the meeting, Preneet Kaur expressed her satisfaction over the work done for setting up eight oxygen wells besides the formation of a task force to protect the children from the possible third wave of Covid-19. She asked, in addition to the above, necessary arrangements have to be made to deal with the possible third wave so that the pandemic can be brought under control.
In the meeting, Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot stressed on the need to make the welfare schemes being run for the people of the villages, accessible to the needy. Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit apprised the Lok Sabha member about the ongoing development works in the district and the progress of the programs and public welfare schemes of the Union government and the state government. While Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Preeti Yadav proposed a vote of thanks.
