Life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh will ever inspire us: Guv

Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Wednesday paid his tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh on the occasion of his 115th birth anniversary. He said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was a true patriot, nationalist, great revolutionary, and freedom fighter. The nation will always remember his supreme sacrifice with reverence, said Dattatraya. Dattatraya said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh sacrificed his life for the freedom of the country without caring for his own life. His dream was that there should be unity and equality in the country and there should be no caste or community based discrimination of any kind. Only then the country can progress, he said. In order to ensure that his dream comes true, the young generation of the country will have to play an important role in building a new India by taking inspiration from the teachings and sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, said Shri Dattatraya.
The Governor also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for naming the Chandigarh International Airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his 115th birth anniversary. He said that Prime Minister Modi announced to name the airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the 93rd episode of his 'Mann Ki Baat' program on September 25 last. After just three days, Prime Minister Modi has honoured the martyr and won the heart of the country by naming the Chandigarh International Airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh, said Shri Dattatraya, adding that this will further strengthen the spirit of patriotism among the youths of the country.
Dattatraya thanked Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman for being the Chief Guest at the ceremony organized to name the Chandigarh International Airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Esteemed dignitaries present on the occasion included Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation Shri VK Singh, Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal, Punjab Governor Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Chief Minister Punjab Shri Bhagwant Mann, Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Dushyant Chautala, Home Minister of Haryana Anil Vij and others. The international airport here was on Wednesday renamed Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement in this regard. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was the chief guest at an event at the airport, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for deciding to rename the airport after the iconic freedom fighter. Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Haryana Bandaru Dattatreya, Union Minister V K Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij and Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher were also present at the event.
