DW BUREAU / Shimla
A new Development Block Office would be opened at Jawali and 50 bedded Civil Hospital would be upgraded to 100 bedded to facilitate the people of the area. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing a mammoth public meeting held at Jawali in Jawali Vidhan Sabha area of Kangra district today as part of 'Pragatisheel Himachal: Sathapna Ke 75 Varsh' celebrations to commemorate 75 years of existence of Himachal Pradesh.
Jai Ram Thakur said that today the whole nation was celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate 75 years of Indian freedom. He said that this year Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a clarion call to the people of the country to hoist Tricolour on their houses under 'Har Ghar Tiranga campaign'. He said that main objective behind this initiative was to instill the sense of love, passion and respect for the Nation and the Tricolour. He thanked the people of the State for ensuring that Tricolour flutters on top of every household and every establishment.
Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh has also completed 75 years of its existence and the State Government was celebrating this event in a befitting manner by organizing 75 events throughout the State. He said that the main objective to celebrate this occasion was to educate the younger generation about the developmental, cultural and political journey of the State.
He said that this was an occasion to pay our respect and gratitude to the leaders, doctors, engineers, teachers, employees, workers, farmers and above all the people of the State who contributed immensely towards the development of the State. He also thanked the former Chief Ministers of the State for providing able leadership to make this State a role model for other States of the country.
Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh was among the best States in matter of Covid-19 management. He said that the steps taken by the State Government in tackling the spread of this virus have been appreciated not only by the Prime Minister, but even by other States. He said that the Congress remained in power for last about 50 years in the State as well as at the Centre. He said that the State Government brought home as many as 2.50 lakh people of the State stranded in different parts of the State safely by the present State Government. He said that it was unfortunate that the opposition even did not refrain from politicizing this sensitive issue and even tried to mislead the people on the issue of vaccination.
Chief Minister said that the 'Naari Ko Naman' programme was launched for the State from Dharamshala under which 50 percent concession was being provided in fare to women in Himachal Road Transport Corporation buses. He said that this concession in bus fares to women is not a political move, rather it is a small step towards our resolve to ensure women empowerment. He said that Shagun Yojna, Grihini Suvidha Yojna, Beti Hai Anmol, assistance to women SHGs etc. were launched in the State to ensure empowerment of the women. He said that Sahara Yojna has been proving a boon to the families with chronically ill patients as Rs 3000 per month was being provided to such families. He said that it was surprising why no other Chief Minister thought of starting such schemes for the poor and the downtrodden. He said that the State Government was also providing 125 units free power to domestic electric consumers. He said that it was strange that a party with no guarantee of its own was now giving ten guarantees to the people of the State.
Jai Ram Thakur urged the people of the State to support the Bharatiya Janta Party in the ensuing general assembly elections to ensure double engine governments in the State so that the pace of development goes uninterrupted. He announced the upgradation of Government High School Tallian to Government Senior
Secondary School.
