It is the responsibility of all to conduct peaceful, fair elections: Dhanpat Singh

Haryana State Election Commissioner, Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that it is the responsibility of all to conduct the elections in 18 Municipal Councils and 28 Municipalities in a peaceful and fair manner. Certain limits have been fixed for elections and the political parties should contest elections within the prescribed limits, he said.
Dhanpat Singh said this while speaking during a meeting of political parties ahead of Municipal Elections at Haryana Niwas held on Saturday. Later, he also took a meeting of the Election Observer, in which guidelines regarding the elections were issued to them
Dhanpat Singh said that on June 19, elections will be held for 18 Municipal Councils and 28 Municipalities. There are total 456 wards for the Municipal Council. In this, 54 wards have been reserved for SC, 36 for SC women, 123 for women, in addition 243 wards are unreserved. Similarly, there are a total of 432 wards in the Municipality, out of which 53 are reserved for SC, 37 for SC women, 116 for women, the remaining 226 wards are unreserved. Today is the last date for nominations. Scrutiny will be held on June, 6, 2022 said Sh. Dhanpat Singh.
Dhanpat Singh said that the Model Code of Conduct is in force in the state from the day the election was announced. All political parties and candidates should strictly follow this.
If any political party gets election posters or walls painted etc. during the election, then it must be removed after the election. Apart from this, no publicity material should be done on government property. No political party or candidate should use their vehicles to bring the voter to the polling booth on the day of polling, said Sh. Dhanpat.
Dhanpat Singh said that during the elections no candidate or party should seek for votes in the name of caste or religion. Along with this no political party should indulge in politics of provocation.
He clarified that no allegation should be made against the candidates without proof. Political parties should also ensure full cooperation to the polling officials. If any discrepancy comes to the notice, then the same should immediately be reported to the Returning Officer, said Sh. Dhanpat.
He said that no political party should try to lure the voter by offering liquor and money.
