Illegal weapons recovered during checking

category Regional,, tags Regional,, DW BUREAU Waryam Singh DSP Samrala said here on Friday that during the naka at nearby Headon police post the police intercepted some suspicious persons, who tried to run away on seeing the police party. Police followed them and caught Gurcharan Singh, resident of village Pattali under Talwandi Bhai police station in Ferozepur district. Police searched his belongings. A pistol of 30 bore along with magzine were recovered from his possession.The serial number of the weapon was found erased and on the other side a number B23 was engraved. The police officer said when the magazine was checked and eight live cartridges of 30 bore were recovered. When asked about the licence of the pistol, he could not produce any documents. A case under Arms Act was registered against him. On interrogation accused Gurcharan Singh alias Nikka told the police that a person namely Akam Singh of Badhani Kalan phoned him from Kuwait and introduced him to Kanta of Lande Ke and Neela of Badhani Kalan. After their contact Kanta of Lande Ke and Neela of Badhani Kalan asked him to send the pistol from Chandigarh to Moga. Further investigations are on. Meanwhile, Dayama Harish Kumar Om Parkash, SSP Khanna, said that the anti- social elements, gangsters and drug traffickers would not be tolerated at any cost. Drug traffickers were spoiling our society. To save the the young generation village panchayats should come forward and form the villages committees. (editor dailyworld.in)
