In a recent development, the police department has introduced a new feature where First Information Report (F.I.R) status updates are sent to complainants via SMS in Hindi. The messages also include a link to download the F.I.R. This information was given during a meeting of the State Apex Committee for the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), chaired by Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal. The CCTNS Haryana project aims to enhance citizen-friendliness, promote transparency in police operations, and improve the delivery of citizen-centric services through the effective use of information and communication technology (ICT). Mr. Kaushal said that the bandwidth at a total of 277 police stations in Haryana has been upgraded, demonstrating the commitment of the Haryana Police to improve connectivity. He urged the officers to expedite the work of SWAN (State Wide Area Network) connectivity, which will provide 10 Mbps bandwidth to the newly established 47 police stations, including the Cyber Crime Prevention and Support Scheme, across the state. During the meeting, it was revealed that various reports in the CCTNS system have been developed to meet the specific requirements of the Anti Corruption Bureau in Haryana. Notably, a new provision has been made to send Rukka (a document generated by a doctor in MedLEAPR) to the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) through CCTNS. An alert is also sent to the SHO and the relevant Superintendent of Police (SP) via email. Additionally, a similar provision has been introduced for the Medical Legal Report (MLR) and Post Mortem Report (PMR) stored in MedLEAPR. Furthermore, the integration of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) with CCTNS has been successfully accomplished. This integration enables citizens to request the blocking or unblocking of devices online. Additionally, the CCTNS has achieved successful integration with various other departments, such as Health, Jails, Prisons, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Prosecution, and Courts, through the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS).
