DW BUREAU /FATEHGARH SAHIB On the occasion of the celebrations of 400th Parkash Purab of Guru Teg Bahadur, Bibi Jagir Kaur, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), announced to set up Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Chair at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. While thanking the visionary announcement made by Bibi Jageer Kaur, Dr Prit Pal Singh, Vice- Chancellor of the university, said that it was a matter of great pride for the University that a Chair was being set up in the name of Guru Teg Bahadur at the University. Dr Prit Pal Singh added that Bibi Jagir Kaur is also giving her guidance as the Chancellor of the University, by virtue of which the University is progressing by leaps and bounds. He said that under her able guidance, students not just from Punjab but from different states are getting benefitted from the educational services of the University. He further said that the University which is the maiden University of the SGPC, established under the holy name of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is dedicated to promote teachings of the Gurus. It will continue to achieve greater heights in the field of education and research, and will remain committed to spread Sikh tenets among the youth under the guidance and leadership of Bibi Jagir Kaur. Research on the life, preaching tours and bani will be carried out to spread the message of religious freedom and universal brotherhood, he added. (editor@dailyworld.in)
