DW BUREAU / PATIALA Guardians of Governance have been deployed in the mandis of the district to help the farmers who are rushing to sell their produce in the mandis. Divulging the details, GoG District Head, Brigadier (Retd) Davinder Singh Grewal said that the GoGs would help the farmers in the mandis and try to resolve any problem faced by them besides sending feedback to the government. A total of 262 GoGs are going to the mandis daily. While these Guardians of Governance urge farmers and others indulged in procurement operations to follow all the precautions to prevent COVID, they also mobilise them for vaccination. Brigadier Grewal said that the GoGs on one hand review the wheat procurement operations, on the other hand they also ensure the provision of drinking water, bathrooms and sanitizers and masks for the farmers in the mandis by giving proper feedback to the concerned authorities. He said that there were 73 GOGs in Patiala sub-division, 39 in Nabha, 67 in Rajpura, 27 in Patran sub- division, 17 in Samana and 27 in Dudhan Sadhan sub-division who are performing their services very well and two supervisors are working in each sub-division. Meanwhile, a GoG Supervisor from Samana, Retired Capt Dharminder Singh while visiting Todarpur Grain Mandi, said that he supervised the cleanliness and other arrangements of the mandis before April 10, now the farmers were being assisted continuously on arrival of wheat in the mandis.
