Employees burnt copies of DC rates

On the call given by the Joint Action Committee, copies of the DC rates were burnt by the employees in front of Water Works Sector 32 . The employees also protested against the administration for not fulfilling their demands .
Employees shouted slogans against the Chandigarh administration to raise the DC rate and meet other demands. They demanded to increase the DC rate by 8% and meet other demands. Convener of Joint Action Committee, Ashwani Kumar, while addressing the employees said that the next protest will be held before Sub Office Manimajra on 23 April, in which copies of DC rate will be burnt. Kumar said that minimum increases in the DC rates were made by the Deputy Commissioner . Outsource workers are already taking very
low salaries.
Therefore, the DC rate should be increased by 8%, a policy should be made to stop exploitation of outsourcing workers, vacant posts should be filled up soon, the daily wage employees recruited after December 1996 will be covered in the policy made on March 13, 2015., the rules of the MC staff should be amended soon and 8 hours of work of the chowkidars working in the schools should be fixed etc.
The employees who addressed the gathering include Raja Ram, Kuldeep Singh, Ravi Singh, Laljeet, Narinder Chaudhary, Kamal Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Narinder Kumar, Sarvan Kumar, Jagmohan Singh, Surinder Singh, Sanjay Duhan, Rajinder Singh
and Mahipal.
