Commissioner reviews devp works in Sector 15

Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today visited Sector 15 to take stock of ongoing development works alongwith to see the issues of area residents.
The visit was started at 6.30 am in the morning. This was the third 'on foot' visit of Commissioner alongwith all the team of concerned engineers and all the sectors will be covered by 'on
foot' visits.
The Commissioner was accompanied by Sh. Saurav Joshi, area councilor, chief engineer, all Superintending Engineers and concerned Executive Engineers, SDEs, Junior Engineers of MCC, office bearers of Resident Welfare Associations and local residents.
The visit was started from the park along road side at sector 15, where the Commissioner asked the concerned engineers of Horticulture wing to maintain this park properly and prepare estimates for its landscaping.
On the issue of dark spot at underpass from sector 15 to sector 11, the Commissioner asked the engineers for early solution of this problem and if the area falls under the jurisdiction of Administration, then take up the matter with their counterparts over there and get
it well lit.
The Commissioner visited vendor zone site at sector 15 and on the complaint of local residents, she directed the concerned officers to check the licenses of vendors and asked that no vendor without authorized license be allowed to occupy space in the vendor site. She also asked to manage the parking of vehicles at the vendor site area.
Near the old oil depot at sector 15, the Commissioner asked the concerned engineers to remove the illegal encroachments and do not allow unauthorized vendors around the depot during the evening. She also asked to remove encroachments near sampark centre and proper maintenance of park back side
the sampark.
The Commissioner asked the chief engineer for proper maintenance of running track at the park, sector 15 so that the dust may not spread over. The area residents raised the issue of putting the railing of neighborhood parks near cheep houses 6 feet away from the road so that the vehicles may be parked
systematically.
The Commissioner asked the concerned engineers explore possibilities if there is any provision in the policy. She also asked the public health engineers to sort out the waterlogging issue in sector 15 C&D and make provision of adequate road gullies near lowline areas.
