DW BUREAU / Chandigarh / New Delhi Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Raghav Chadha, on Friday handed over a memorandum to Vice President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar to observe 'Shaheedi' week to commemorate the martyrdom of Char Sahibzade. In his letter to Chairman, Raghav Chadha wrote that the martyrdom of the four Sahibzads of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji is one of the most painful and heart-wrenching incident in the history of the world. On one hand, this incident presents a repulsive picture of cruelty, on the other hand, it reveals the spirit of fighting, bravery and 'Sikh Sidak' of Sahibzadas. Baba Ajit Singh Ji and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, the two elder Sahibzade of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji were martyred while fighting in the battle of Chamkaur and two younger Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji were martyred by the rulers. Giving reference to Maithili Sharan Gupt about this supreme martyrdom, Raghav Chadha said, "Jis kul, jaati, desh ke bache de sakte hai jo balidaan... Uska vartaman kush vi ho, Bhavishya hai maha mahan." The sacrifice of Sahibzadas teaches that one should not bend down before injustice and face it courageously - this would inspire children. Raghav Chadha demanded that all the education boards in the country must include the valour and martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh ji and his four Sahibzadas in the school curriculum to educate students about Sikh history. Through this study, not only will the children learn the heroic story of Guru Sahib Ji, but it will also inculcate a spirit of patriotism in them. (editor@dailyworld.in)
