DW BUREAU / Chandigarh The BJP has once again faces the revolt in the election of the Mayor as its councilor Chandravati Shukla of ward number 12 filled the nomination paper for the post against its official candidates Rebellion was witnessed soon after nominations were filed by Ravikant Sharma for the post of Mayor, Mahesh inder Singh Sidhu for the post of Senior Mayor and Fermila Devi for Deputy Mayor.Elections for the post of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor are being held on 8 January in Chandigarh. Party in-charge Dushyant Gautam was also present on the occasion, High drama was witnessed as some BJP leaders tried to stop her from filing the nomination . Pradeep Chhabra Chandigarh Congress president said that Mayor Candidate from Congress Devinder Singh Babla may withdraw nomination. He said that the real face of Bharatiya Janta Party has come out in open in the upcoming Chandigarh Mayor election. BJP has always treated the people of Uttarakhand and Purvanchal only as a vote bank.This shows the arrogance and ideological bankruptcy of BJP. Meanwhile Mayor Candidate from Congress Devinder Singh Babla also said that he may withdraw his nomination. He said that BJP has always treated the people of Uttarakhand and Purvanchal only as a vote bank and used them . This time the post of the mayor is reserved for the general candidate whereas, last year, it was reserved for the woman candidate.
