Chandigarh reports 19 new cases of COVID-19

Chandigarh reported 19 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday , taking the tally of confirmed positive cases to 21,371 . At present, there are 156 active cases in the city. The new cases have also been reported from Sectors 15, 22, 24, 28, 33, 34, 39, 44 and Dhanas. The mobile teams scheduled on Saturday will visit Bus Stand , Sector 17, MT MM Railway Station , Chandigarh, and Police Hospital, Sector 26.
On the other hand, 124 health care workers were administered a second dose of COVID vaccine on Friday.
A total of 13 patients have been discharged taking the tally of cured patients to 20,867 in the city. Panchkula reported 15 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday . The new cases took the tally to 10,716. At present, there are 104 active cases in the district. The new cases have also been reported from Kalka, Pinjore and Sector 10. A total of 10,464 patients have been discharged in the district after they successfully recovered from the infection. Mohali reported 30 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The new cases have taken the tally of confirmed positive cases to19,896 with 379 active cases reported. The new cases have also been reported from dhakoli and Kharar.
A total of 18 patients have been discharged taking the tally of recovered patients to 19,136in the district. Till date, 381deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported in the district.
Daily new cases of COVID-19 in the country climbed to over 13,000 after 19 days taking India's tally of cases to 1,09,63,394, with experts attributing the rise to increased economic activity and complacency among people. A total of 13,193 new cases were registered in a span of 24 hours. The death toll increased to 1,56,111 with 97 daily new fatalities, the data updated by the Health ministry at 8 am showed. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,06,67,741 which translates to a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 97.30 per cent and the case fatality rate stands at 1.42 per cent. The total COVID-19 active cases remained below 1.5 lakh. There are 1,39,542 active cases of coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.27 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated. India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.
