Better facilities provided to Gramin Safai Karamcharis: Devender Singh Babli

Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister Devender Singh Babli stated that the total number of Safai karamcharis has increased from 11,254 to 18,580 in the state. Babli was responding to a question during the budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha today. He informed the house that various facilities are now being provided to Safai Karamcharis.
He said that the honorarium for sanitation workers has been increased to Rs. 15,000, as recently announced by the Chief Minister. Additionally, a uniform allowance of Rs. 4,000 and an allowance of Rs. 1000 for uniform cleaning have been provided. The Development and Panchayats Minister said that as per the recent decision of the State Government, PPP data has been adopted for calculating population size and the criteria have also been changed. According to the set criteria, for upto 1000 population, one safaikarmi, two Safai Karamcharis for a population of 1000 to 2000, three Safai Karamcharis for a population of 2000 to 3000, 4 Safai Karamcharis for a population of 3000 to 4000, five safaikarmi for a population of 4000-5000, six safaikarmi for a population of 5000- 10,000, eight for a population of 10,000- 20,000, and ten Safai Karamcharis for a population of more than 20,000 population have been deployed. Devender Singh Babli said that renovation work is underway in the existing building in Garhi Ruthal village to open a Mahila Sanskriti Kendra.
The process of tendering for materials/equipment for Mahila Sanskriti Kendra is also going on and once the tender is finalized, the Mahila Sanskriti Kendra will be opened. Babli was replying to a question raised during the budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha today. He said that buildings have been identified for e-libraries and Mahila Sanskriti Kendras in the state.
