Beating deafness, youth achieves another national award

Absolute deaf and dumb youth of this city, Yashveer Goyal has achieved a rare milestone as he has been selected for National Youth Award by the Union government. He is the only youth to get two national awards and two state awards in a period of
four years.
Born with absolute hearing impairment and congenital deformities about 22 years ago, Yashveer Goyal while giving crushing defeat to all the disabilities, has made outstanding achievements in different fields and got national award in 2019 and again selected for National Youth Award for the year 2018-2019 as per the result declared by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairson July 6 last.
Yashveer is only youth of Punjab, who has been selected for National Youth Award for the year 2018-2019. A total of seven youths from different parts of the country were selected for this award.
Earlier, he was given State Award and State Disability Award in the year 2018 by the Punjab government and state awards apart from other honours in the past few years.
Yashveer did not allow the inferiority complex and a host of other problems to seize his undying passion and grit to excel in different fields and he succeeded in becoming a role model for others after he won gold, silver and bronze medals in general education, sports, photography, information technology, Covid-19 campaign and speech competitions at international, national, state and district level.
