DW BUREAU / PATIALA: Bank employees are bracing up for an all-India strike on January 30 and 31 under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) and in preparation of that demonstrations would be staged at all centres followed by wearing of black badges on January 24. Stating this here on Monday, Sanmeet Singh, Secretary of the State Bank of India Employees Union, Chandigarh Circle, and Organising Secretary of the Punjab Bank Employees Federation, said that the bank employees have been demanding among other things adequate recruitments in banks to reduce the existing workload to ensure better customer service. He said that some of the important demands of the bank employees included pension for all past retirees, introduction of five banking days per week, commencement of negotiations on charter of demands for 12th BPS wage revision and scrapping of new pension scheme and restoration of old pension scheme. Sanmeet Singh said that in view of the changing banking profile and needs of customers , availability of alternate delivery channels the bank employees had been demanding that banks should function from Monday to Friday (five days in a week) and all Saturdays and Sundays be declared holidays. He said that the revision of wages and service conditions had become due from November 1, 2022. (editor@dailyworld.in)
