The Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa, launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab Government on Thursday for its inefficacy in revamping the deteriorated fiscal condition.

Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that the fund-starved AAP government is all set to increase the charges for various services it provides to people to accelerate its income. The user charges could go up from 10 to 50 percent. The government has already consulted with the revenue, local government, health, police, and transport departments to review the charges of services. Bajwa said that following the recommendations of newly appointed financial advisors Arbind Modi and Sebastian James, the AAP government has bent on burning more holes in the pockets of the people of Punjab.

"Punjab's Finance Ministry under Harpal Singh Cheema seems to have gone out its head. The AAP government does not leave even a single opportunity to financially weaken the middle and poor classes of the states, who have already been struggling hard to make ends meet. We live in a welfare state, where the government is committed to providing basic economic security for its citizens. However, the AAP government has done everything, which is against the basic principle of the welfare state", Bajwa added.
