A one-day awareness camp was organized at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College for Women, Jhar Sahib, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rajinder Kaur and Head of the Home Science Department Dr. Ranjit Kaur, with the aim of promoting proper management of paddy stubble.

The camp, conducted in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala, was part of a project to discourage stubble burning. A poster-making competition on the topic was held, in which students actively participated. Jasmeet Kaur won first place, Jaspreet Kaur secured second place, and Jashanpreet Kaur received third place. Puneet Kaur, Sehjpreet Kaur, and Khushpreet Kaur were given encouragement awards.

During the camp, college student Simranjeet Kaur delivered a speech on stubble management, and Jashanpreet Kaur recited a poem. Agricultural science officer Dr. Karun Sharma provided technical information on the harmful effects of stubble burning and shared ways to utilize stubble as animal fodder.

Dr. Harshneet Singh, Assistant Professor, highlighted that burning stubble is neither environmentally nor ethically acceptable.

Principal Dr. Rajinder Kaur shared her views, saying that the camp aimed to raise awareness about stubble burning to protect future generations from increasing environmental pollution.
