Adhocism in Punjab's power sector continues as the state government has failed to fill the posts of Directors in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation (PSTCL), Member Technical in Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC), Director HR in PSPCL, CMD PSTCL and Member (Power) in Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), said AjayPal Singh Atwal, General Secretary.
The PSEB Engineers' Association in a letter of June 27 to chief minister Punjab has raised the issue of adhocism in the PSPCL, the PSTCL, and the PSERC despite the fact that these issues have been taken a number of times.
The selection process to fill-up the post of Director Generation in PSPCL and Director F&C in PSTCL was started after the CM's intervention, but the power department had failed to complete the selection process and has again reverted to offering temporary extensions to Directors in the PSPCL and the PSTCL.
Moreover the vital post of Chief Electrical Inspector has been lying vacant. Such ad-hoc decisions by the Power Department are not only hindering decision-making on these important posts but also creating uncertainty in the power sector.
