category Regional, chandigarh, , tags Regional, chandigarh, , DW BUREAU CHANDIGARH A delegation of the Punjab Congress, led by party chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, met the Chief Electoral Officer Punjab in Chandigarh on Wednesday and submitted a complaint against the AAP MLAs and leaders hailing from other constituencies, who were seen around the polling booths in the Jalandhar constituency on the polling day. Castigating the AAP leadership, Warring, after filing the complaint against the AAP leaders, said that AAP had been deliberately flouting Election Commission of India s (ECI) guidelines, which restricted leaders of other constituencies from being a part of the election duty in the poll-bound constituencies. The ruling Punjab government had deployed its leaders for the Jalandhar by-elections which was completely against the tenets of the law and moral code of conduct, added he. It was such a shame for government that it first failed in fielding a candidate for the by-election and then it again failed in finding volunteers for polling booth duty. There appears no other reason that it had to transport leaders and workers from other areas to assist the voters in Jalandhar, said the state Congress chief. The Sangrur Lok Sabha bypoll last year was an eye-opener for the AAP. It was aware of its defeat in Jalandhar bypoll, from Day One, since the pronouncement of the date of the by-poll in Jalandhar. Just to satisfy its false ego, it first tried poaching politics to mislead voters, then it openly resorted to vendetta politics by registering false cases against opposition leaders. He said, yesterday, they went on to finally flout ECI guidelines to reclaim its lost political ground in the state. The Congress chief further said that owing to its Himalayan failures on all the fronts, both Bhagwant Mann and his master, Punjab Convener Arvind Kejriwal, were aware of the fact that the people of the state would out rightly reject the party for its lies, frauds and the atrocities it perpetrated on the innocent people.
