DW Bureau | Chandigarh, September 24: Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College & Hospital (SDACH), Sector 46, has announced skill-based courses in the AYUSH and healthcare sectors under the Ministry of AYUSH's Skill India initiative.

The courses include a one-year Panchkarma Technician course and three-month courses in Garbhini Mittra and Ayurveda Masseur. BSc Nursing Ayurveda and Multi Task Worker courses will be offered in affiliation with Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra.

SDACH General Secretary Dr Naresh Mittal said the courses would be introduced after completion of the affiliation process. Admissions are scheduled to begin on October 15, with classes from November 1.

Those completing the courses will receive certificates from the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC), an industry-led certification body promoted by the National Skill Development Corporation.

The college is also hosting a two-day training workshop on Shalakya Tantra, with a focus on ENT-related subjects. The workshop, being held on September 24 and 25 in collaboration with Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), has 35 to 40 doctors participating from different parts of the country.

Mittal said experts from the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Delhi, the National Ayurveda Institute, Panchkula, and institutions in Gujarat and Sonipat are participating as resource persons.

He said SDACH had received a Rs 10-crore grant under the Ministry of AYUSH's Centre of Excellence programme for AYUSH management of pain disorders. Four products have been developed and patented under the project, he said.

Construction of a 250-bed hospital has also begun under the project, according to Mittal. The proposed facility will have an integrated healthcare approach involving different AYUSH systems.
