DW Bureau | Chandigarh, August 16, 2026: Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday flagged off the GB Legends ‘Lake to Lake Ultra-2026’ from New Lake, Sector 42. Organised around the Independence Day celebrations, the event promoted the message of a “Fit, Healthy and United India”.

More than 500 runners from across India participated in the 30 km, 50 km and 75 km races, covering the scenic Shivalik foothills before finishing at Tikkar Taal in Morni.

Jatinder Bajwa, Vice President, GB Realty, said the strong participation reflected the spirit of national pride and the role of sport in promoting fitness. Amit Sood, CEO, GB Legends, said the event encouraged runners to push their limits while promoting discipline, resilience and active lifestyles.

In the 75 km Open Men’s category, Prateek Verma won with a timing of 6:40:35. Anirban Sengupta topped the 50 km Open Men’s category in 4:55:33, while Vaishnavi Kaup won the 50 km Open Women’s category in 6:36:56.

Sandeep Madaan won the 30 km Open Men’s category in 2:42:11, while Shivangi Sarda topped the 30 km Open Women’s category in 3:09:55.

The organisers said the event highlighted the potential of Chandigarh and the Morni-Shivalik region for sports, adventure and eco-tourism and expressed confidence that the ultra would develop into a prominent annual endurance event.
