DW Bureau | Chandigarh, September 10: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday distributed sports kits to 32 specially-abled schoolchildren at Punjab Lok Bhavan under the ‘Haste Khelte’ initiative of the Competent Foundation.

The initiative aims to promote sports among children with disabilities and provide them with equipment according to their sporting disciplines, including badminton, javelin, shot put, cricket, fencing and football.

Speaking on the occasion, Kataria said such initiatives provide children with the resources and encouragement to discover their abilities and pursue their sporting aspirations. He appreciated the Competent Foundation for supporting young athletes and helping remove barriers to their participation in sports.

Senior BJP leader and Competent Foundation chairman Sanjay Tandon said the initiative was aimed at ensuring that talented children, irrespective of their circumstances or disabilities, get the equipment and opportunities needed to pursue their sporting goals.

The beneficiary students are from various government schools in Chandigarh.
