DW Bureau | Chandigarh: Haryana is set to witness a defining movement of social and political renewal in the form of the Sadbhav Yatra. Beginning 5th October 2025 from Danoda village in Narwana constituency, the padyatra will be led by senior Congress leader and former Member of Parliament Brijendra Singh, son of veteran leader and former Union Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh.
‘Sadbhav’, meaning harmony, has come under stress in the past decade, as the BJP has exacerbated caste, regional, and communal discord in Haryana through its divisive politics. The primary aim of the Sadbhav Yatra is to revive bhaichara in Haryanvi society.
The yatra will also highlight national and regional issues, including Vote Chori (electoral malpractice), failing foreign policy and international isolation, unemployment, paper leaks, poor law and order situation, agrarian distress, government employees’ grievances, flawed new army recruitment process, and deterioration of democratic institutions under the BJP government.
Speaking at the occasion, Shri Brijendra Singh said, “Congress has always believed in unity, and today Haryana needs bhaichara more than ever. This Yatra is not just a political march; it is a people’s mission to restore harmony and to raise the voice of farmers, workers, youth, traders, and women. Through the Sadbhav Yatra, we are marching together to reclaim the spirit of brotherhood and justice across all 36 biradaris of Haryana.”
The padyatra will traverse all 90 constituencies across the state, covering 2,600-2,800 km for over 6 to 7 months. In its first phase, the yatra will pass through 14 constituencies: Narwana, Kalayat, Safidon, Jind, Julana, Narnaund, Uchana, Uklana, Adampur, Nalwa, Hisar, Barwala, Hansi, and BawaniKhera.
The yatra’s slogan, “Congress ka Haath, Bhaichaare ke Saath” seeks to unite the people of Haryana in the mission to restore social harmony. It speaks to the shared heartbeat of Haryana’s 36 Biradaris. The Yatra logo reflects Haryana’s identity and collective spirit, featuring two rising hands – orange for valour and sacrifice, and green for agriculture and prosperity – celebrating the land of Jawan and Kisan. At its centre, the Congress hand within the tricolour circle signifies harmony, inclusivity, and unity.
Sadbhav Yatra is inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, where he took the Congress’ vision and values directly to the people of India. The Sadbhav Yatra will also seek to encourage and unify Congress workers and leaders, which is especially necessary since the 2024 Assembly Election results, to stand up against the government’s detrimental policies.
