Los Angeles, Jan 31 : Two-time Emmy-winning actor Catherine Oâ??Hara, who starred in â??Home Aloneâ?? and â??Schittâ??s Creek,â?? passed away aged 71 following breif illness.

Oâ??Haraâ??s manager confirmed to variety.com. According to her agency CAA, Oâ??Hara died at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness.

Her career in Hollywood spanned five decades, beginning with the Canadian sketch comedy series â??Second City Television,â?? which she created with Eugene Levy, and for which she earned her first Emmy and earned four nominations. Oâ??Hara went on to star in films such as â??After Hours,â?? â??Beetlejuiceâ?? and the first two â??Home Aloneâ?? movies, in which she played the mother of Macaulay Culkinâ??s character, Kevin.

She maintained a close friendship with Culkin and honored him at his Walk of Fame ceremony in 2023.

She was a frequent collaborator of Christopher Guestâ??s, appearing in his mockumentary films â??Best in Show,â?? â??For Your Consideration,â?? â??Waiting for Guffmanâ?? and â??A Mighty Wind.â?? She had also voiced roles in animated features such asâ??The Nightmare Before Christmasâ?? and â??Chicken Little.â??

Oâ??Haraâ??s recent roles also included the legacy sequel â??Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,â?? in which she reprised her role as Delia Deetz, and the Apple action film â??Argylle.â??

Oâ??Hara experienced a career renaissance in her 60s, starting with her role as riches-to-rags housewife Moira Rose in the CBC sitcom â??Schittâ??s Creek,â?? in which she starred opposite Eugene and Dan Levy and Annie Murphy.

She won her second Emmy for â??Schittâ??s Creek,â?? which helped her into other major TV roles in â??The Last of Usâ?? and â??The Studio.â??

Born in Toronto, Oâ??Hara became a beloved figure in Los Angeles. She is survived by her husband, production designer Bo Welch, and sons Matthew and Luke, along with siblings Michael Oâ??Hara, Mary Margaret Oâ??Hara, Maureen Jolley, Marcus Oâ??Hara, Tom Oâ??Hara and Patricia Wallice.
