CM Mann hands over job letters to 560 police sub inspectors

Jalandhar: Setting another
benchmark in the state, the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister
Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday touched the mark of 35848 government jobs
given to youth merely within more than a year in its tenure.
Addressing the gathering after handing over appointment letters to 560 new
Sub Inspectors in the Punjab Police, the Chief Minister said that the
appointment letters of these cops have been delayed by two years due to
apathy of previous state governments adding he exhorted the new cops to
judiciously use their post for the welfare of the people and securing
justice for them rather than harassing them. He said that the state
government is committed for ensuring the well being of the people for which
stupendous efforts are being made. Reiterating the firm commitment of his
government to ensure welfare of state, Bhagwant Singh Mann no stone will be
left unturned for this noble cause.
Congratulating the newly inducted officers and their families, the Chief
Minister expressed hope that they will discharge their duty with honesty,
diligence and dedication. He said that these days have been made special as
the earlier governments never bothered to give jobs to the youth with bribe
and recommendations. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that his government has made
sure that only the eligible, deserving and bright students are selected on
the basis of their merit.
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction
that the state government has hitherto provided more than 35,000 jobs to
the youth in various departments of the state government. He said that it
is a record as none of the previous governments have given so many jobs to
youth especially in the first year. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that merit and
transparency have been the twin pillars on the basis of which jobs have
been given to the youth across the state.
The Chief Minister said that the sole motive of this is to make Punjab a
front runner state in the country by opening jobs for the bright youth of
the state. He said that 95% of the youth selected on these 560 posts are
from the state and are domicile of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that
all these cops have cleared Punjabi language in merit and are have excelled
in education and competitive exam.
The Chief Minister announced that the state government will soon embark a
major drive to recruit 1700 Constables in the Punjab Police. He said that
Punjab Police has glorious legacy of serving the state with hard work,
dedication and commitment. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the marvellous
service rendered by Punjab Police in serving the country is unmatched.
The Chief Minister said that to check the fatality rate due to road
accidents in the state on one hand and to streamline the movement of
traffic on the roads of the state on the other, the state government has
launched Sadak Surakhya Force. He said that the first of its kind
specialized force will act as a pivotal to save several precious lives that
are lost in road accidents daily in Punjab. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that
this force will be entrusted with the task of checking rash driving,
streamlining vehicular movement on roads and others to check the road
accidents adding that it will reduce the burden on cops deployed in Police
stations.
The Chief Minister said that new cops will be recruited for this
specialized force. He said that initially 144 vehicles equipped with ultra
modren gadgets will be deployed after every 30 kilometres to man the roads.
Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that the vehicles will also have a
complete medical kit for providing emergency treatment to any person in
need.
The Chief Minister said that ushering in an era of revolution in the state
the Punjab government is all set to launch Schools of Eminence in the
state. He said that a budget of Rs 68 crore has been released for setting
up these schools and the first school will be dedicated to people on
September 13. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this state of the art school
will act as a catalyst in providing quality education to the students.
The Chief Minister said that he can never even think of using the money of
state exchequer for personal use. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he will
prefer to die rather than having a single penny from this money of tax
payer’s money. He said that every minute his government is working
tirelessly for the comprehensive development of the state and prosperity of
its people.
Earlier the Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav welcomed the Chief
Minister and other dignitaries.
On the occasion Cabinet Minister Balkar Singh, Lok Sabha Member Sushil
Kumar Rinku, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav and others were also
