In his elucidation, in Shri Ramcharitmanas (3.15), Shri Ram has changed the order of responses for two reasons. First, while a jigyasu is confused about the order of his queries, the Guru knows perfectly the sequence in which the concepts must be explained. Secondly, we are all constantly under the spell of Maya, which is the biggest hindrance to self- realisation. Thus, Shri Ram wishes to unravel the mystique of Maya first and then lead us to Vivek (discretion), Vairagya (non-attachment), and Gyan.
"main maya, jehin nikaya,
go gochar jaee, so saba maya bhai."
"The notion 'I' and 'mine'; 'you' and 'yours' is the 'Maya' (Illusion). It holds sway over all created beings. Whatever is perceived by the senses and lies within the reach of mind is all Maya."
Shri Ram knows HIS Maya is indescribable. It is HIS delusional and enrapturing potency, and causation cannot define its nature. Hence, HE explains Maya through its effects.
Maya's most common manifestation is our conviction that I did this, I shall not allow that, I am; I have. This is mine, my power, my property, my relations, my intellect. You have done this or not done that; this is yours and not yours. We are always lost in this maze till such time reality strikes. When it's time to leave, we realise that nothing ever belonged to us and nothing was ever under control. There was never an 'I' or 'you'; nothing was ever 'mine' or 'your'. This is Maya- this is the illusion that makes us all delusional.
Shri Ramcharitmanas(1.140) says there is no celestial, human or sage whom this Maya cannot infatuate. This Maya is all-pervasive, controlling all beings. The whole manifested universe is in Maya; it's working on all, in all and is most challenging to transcend. However, Shri Krishna rescues us in Gita (7.14), where HE asserts that HIS Maya can be surmounted by those who
