KARUNA

Shri Ram continues his elucidation on the purpose of the human form in Shri Ramcharitmanas 7.44

kabahunka dehi, deta sanehi

nara bero, sanmukha mero.

karanadhara nava, durlabha pava

"Sometimes the Almighty, out of sheer love and compassion (karuna) for the jeev (being), graciously bestows on it a human form. This form is a veritable raft whereby the jeev can cross the ocean of mundane existence. With My grace (kripa) as the favourable wind and a Sadhguru for a helmsman to steer this raft, a jeev can attain moksh. Though difficult to secure, His grace makes this combination easily available to the being."

The cornerstone of bhakti marg is a bhakt's firm conviction in God's love, compassion, and grace for the jeev. Shri Ram affirms that sometimes, even when we are not deserving, the compassionate, merciful Lord gives us a human body to come out of this whirlpool of transmigratory existence

Here, Shri Ram also reveals his avatar form by switching to the first person to declare that it is through "My Grace and Compassion" that the jeev is granted a human form and adds that with His grace as a favourable wind for the sails of the raft and with a Sadhguru to steer his boat, the jeev can attain moksh.

The rarity of the human form and its ability to attain moksh resonates in Gita 7.19, and mirroring further, Shri Krishna asserts in Gita 10.11 that out of unqualified compassion, He destroys the darkness of ignorance with the lamp of gyan.

So, we have few rarities to attain on the path to liberation. First, the human form itself; second, the effort and will to embark on the path of moksh; and third and the most difficult of all, obtaining the guidance of a Sadhguru through the spiritual journey. Shri Ram proclaims that this rare combination becomes possible only with His karuna and kripa! / DAILY WORLD /
